Burruss Beavers Win Elementary School Reading Bowl, Jan. 13
ALB-Reading Bowl TeamWearing their Burruss Beavers are Awesome Readers t-shirts, the A.L. Burruss Elementary Reading Bowl Team recently won the Marietta City Schools 6th Annual Elementary School Reading Bowl. The Sawyer Road Elementary Reading Bowl team placed 2nd, and the Marietta Center for Advanced Academics placed 3rd. The 1st and 2nd place teams will compete at the Regional Bowl. Congratulations to all teams on their win!

Marietta Middle School (MMS) students recently visited West Side Elementary to read to students in support of Marietta Reads! Students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) are committed to outreach and community service.

Marietta Reads! Factors In All-America City Selection

dfghMarietta selected All-America City among ten best in nation, 2006 As part of the National Civic League process that led to Marietta ’s selection as an All-America City, the Judges required that the city demonstrate a program to benefit children. Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, successfully helped the city illustrate how the program has increased student test scores and book circulation.
