MCAA wins 4th annual Reading Bowl

The Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) claimed the win in the fourth annual Marietta Reads! Reading Bowl. A.L. Burruss and Park Street Elementary finished second and third respectively. First and second place team members received medals, ribbons and certificates.

Marietta City Schools’ elementary schools squared off Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at Marietta Middle School (MMS) in the system’s fourth annual Reading Bowl to test student reading comprehension and retention skills. Competing for this year’s title were eight teams consisting of five members and up to two alternates, as they answered questions based on 20 different books read by students prior to the competition.

The MCAA and A.L. Burruss teams will represent the school district at the Regional Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl on Feb. 9 at Pickens County Middle School. The Marietta Sixth Grade Academy and Marietta Middle School will also be sending teams to the Regional Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl.
