Marietta Reads! 8th Annual Event – Marietta Square, Sept. 25Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, celebrates its eighth-year anniversary on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Glover Park on Marietta Square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.Author Terry Kay Lecture, Oct. 2 The Cobb Library Foundation presents Author, Terry Kay, on Saturday Oct. 2 at The Walker School. Kay, a 2009 recipient of the Governor's Award in the Humanities, and a 2006 inductee into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame, is the author of ten published novels, including To Dance with the White Dog, as well as a book of essays and a children's book. Three of his novels have been produced as Hallmark Hall of Fame movies.  Event FlierBecome a Marietta Reads! As part of the National Civic League process that led to Marietta ’s selection as an All-America City, the Judges required that the city demonstrate a program to benefit children. Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, successfully helped the city illustrate how the program has increased student test scores and book circulation. |
