Student incentives: Grades K-5

In Marietta City Schools, we believe that all students should be encouraged to read for enjoyment and learning. After reading a book, students will use the Accelerated Reader computer program to take a test that will measure reading comprehension. The student earns Accelerated Reader points based on the difficulty of the book and performance on the Accelerated Reader tests. Points earned will be cumulative throughout the school year. There is no limit to the number of points that can be earned or number of prizes a student can receive.

Please note:

Students are expected to score an 80% or better average on Accelerated Reader tests. Student recognition will be given at the end of each school quarter, with the exception of the letter from the principal.
